President’s Message:
Thank you for visiting the Web Site of the Mandurah Murray Vietnam & Veterans Group Inc (MMV&VG). I trust that you enjoy the site. Should you be a veteran who lives in the South West of Western Australia and you are not a member of our Group then I invite you to join.
The Objectives of the GROUP are:
2.1 To establish and maintain a Group for Australian Defence Force (ADF) and allied veterans to perpetuate the close ties of friendship and support created by mutual service in the ADF or in the forces of allied nations.
2.2 To ensure the preservation of the memory of those who suffered and died for the nation and preserve in their honour, ANZAC Day, Vietnam Veterans Day, Remembrance Day and other commemorative occasions.
2.3 To promote the defence of Australia, and guard the good name, interests and standing of serving Members of the ADF.
2.4 To support ADF Members at home and abroad and actively assist them in their transition to civilian life, especially if they are detrimentally affected by military service.
Types of Membership:
5.1.1 Service Member. Members who have served over six months in Regular or Reserve Forces of the ADF or other Allied Forces including the spouse/partner, widow/widower of the Service Member.
5.1.2 Social Member. Members who support the Objects of the Group but are not eligible for Service Membership. Social Membership is limited to 30 members at any one time and must be nominated and seconded by a Service Member who has known the person for at least six months. A Social Member shall not have any voting rights.
5.1.3 Life Member. Any member can provide to the Secretary a written notice of a nomination for Life Membership for a member/s within the Group. The nomination is to include a resume of the nominee/s’ valued and outstanding contribution to the Group for consideration by the Management Committee. To qualify for consideration for life membership, the nominated member/s should have given an aggregate of eight years meritorious service.
5.1.4 Honorary Member. This may be granted by the Committee to patrons, sponsors, selected government officers and any other such persons as the Committee may decide from time to time, based on their relationship to the Group or community. Honorary Members are not entitled to be present at any meeting of Members of the Group, nor have any voting rights or any right, title or interest in or to any of the property of the Group.
For those that are Members of MMV&VG, I ask you to be involved on a regular basis and to enjoy the social activities, functions etc. as this is what the Group is really about. There are regular bike rides, kayaking outings, caravanning and other trips, wives and partners socials plus those activities that your Social Committee go to great lengths to provide for you. Group members are also invited to attend the Mandurah Sub Branch R&SL Club, Mandurah on each Thursday afternoon from 1600 hours for a few quiet drinks with fellow members. The Pinjarra R&SL has a Happy Hour from 5pm and a $10 evening meal on Friday nights which you are also welcome to attend.
MMV&VG also has a Welfare Officer and Management Committee that is there for the Group.
It is the members that make a Group and you have volunteer members who are prepared to give much of their time to ensure that you are looked after. All I ask for as President, is that you join in our activities so that we can continue to run this highly successful and recognized Group.
